City Manager

Ronald J. Alles became Helenas 9th city manager in October 2009. As the citys chief administrative officer, he is responsible for the administration of all city affairs, services and duties consistent with the City Charter, City Ordinances and state and federal law. His primary duty is to ensure that policies and guidelines adopted by the City Commission are executed as efficiently, fairly and effectively as possible. The City Manager also prepares the annual city budget for consideration by the City Commission, supplies whatever information is requested by the City Commission and may make recommendations on matters that require action by the City Commission.
Prior to becoming City Manager of Helena, Mr. Alles was employed for nine years, 2000-2009, as Chief Administrative Officer for Lewis and Clark County. He was Chief Finance Officer for Lewis & Clark County for five years prior to that, and served as a budget analyst for the City of Helena from 1991 to 1995. He served in the United States Air Force from 1983-1987 as a Korean linguist and was honorably discharged at the rank of sergeant.

Personal
Mr. Alles was born and raised in Montana and has two teen-aged children. He spends his spare time with family, enjoys outdoor recreational activities and is an avid golfer.
