Risk Management
The City of Helena's Risk Management is part of the Human Resources Department and is responsible for design and administration of the City's property and casualty insurance and self-insurance programs, the property and casualty loss prevention program, the employee safety and health program and the insured and self-insured employee benefits program. The Risk Management goals are to avoid, reduce, control, or finance losses that may arise from activities of the City.
Issues that the Risk Management Department typically handles include:
• Auto & General Liability claims filed against the City of Helena
• Safety and wellness of employees
• Employee health, dental, life & long-term disability insurance benefits
• Employee injuries and Workers' Compensation benefits

Complete the form to the best of your ability, attach any estimates or invoices you have pertaining to the claim, and mail or deliver to the address below. The City will complete all paperwork necessary and forward your claim to MMIA for processing. MMIA will contact you shortly after receiving your claim.
The City of Helena is a member of the Montana Municipal Interlocal Authority (MMIA) pool. MMIA provides a Comprehensive Liability Program that encompasses liability coverage for general, auto, public officials, public employees and law enforcement. MMIA is located in Helena, giving the City of Helena the advantage of local adjusters and claims administration.
The City of Helena's Risk Manager is Katherine Swindle, who is located in the City/County building Room 106.
