Boulevard Violations
In the late 1980's, the boulevard ordinance was passed due to concerns of property owners removing grass from the boulevard areas only to install non-vegetative materials (bark, rocks, etc.). Since that time the ordinance has been modified to allow variances that mix non-vegetative and vegetative materials that cover a minimum of 60% of the boulevard area.
Violations occur when the standard of grass and trees has been removed and no request for a variance has been approved. Prior to changing the landscape boulevard area it is important to submit a scaled landscape plan to the Parks and Recreation office. The information that must be included in the plan are types of plants, quantities, size, and the measurements of the boulevard (length and width).
