Helena Urban Forest Management Plan

The city has conducted a tree inventory of the boulevard trees which has created an updated database of all its trees and their condition.  From this information  Helena has developed a comprehensive tree maintenance and replacement plan which will be available on the website soon.

The city is also currently accepting protests to the creation of a new special tree maintenance district to replace the current district.  If the new district is approved and formed, additional funds will be available for hiring an urban forester who will provide more intensive tree maintenance and planting.  The current assessment on property taxes will increase from $10 for each lot or parcel to $20 and create a fund of $160,000.
