Troy was raised in Helena, Montana, attended Helena public schools and graduated from Helena High in 1971. He continued his education at Carroll College from 1971 to 1975 and received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Sociology.

He began his law enforcement career with the Lewis & Clark County Sheriff's Office in 1974 and moved on to the Helena Police Department (HPD) in 1975. He has worked his way up through the ranks as a Patrolman, Patrolman 1st Class, Sergeant, and Captain. On August 11, 1996, he was promoted to the rank of Chief of Police. During his employment with the HPD his assignments have included shift supervisor, Selective Traffic Enforcement, Crimestoppers, Evidence, Criminal Investigation Division, Juvenile Officer, Public Relations and Dispatching/Records.

In 1993, Troy was accepted at the FBI National Academy in Quantico, Virginia, to participate in a 3-month training program. This program is designed specifically for law enforcement professionals and provides intensive training in areas selected by the students that they feel will most enhance their knowledge and abilities. He graduated from the 175th Session on December 17, 1993.

Troy is or has been a member of numerous organizations including Crimestoppers, Montana Attorney General's Law Enforcement Advisory Council, Association of Public Communication Officers, Montana Peace Officers Standards and Training Council (POST), Montana Chiefs of Police, Montana Law Enforcement Academy Advisory Board and the Community Corrections/Prerelease Board. Troy also serves as a legislative lobbyist for the Montana Chiefs of Police Association, the City of Helena, and the Montana Police Officers Protective Association.

Troy is married and has two children. He enjoys hunting, softball and the outdoors.

Assistant Chief Dave Jeseritz has been with the Helena Police Department since July 1989. He was born and raised in Cottonwood, Minnesota. He received an A.S. degree in Law Enforcement from Mankato State University in Minnesota. He also graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration with emphasis in Criminal Justice from Northcentral University in Arizona.

Assistant Chief Jeseritz started in the Patrol Division and was the downtown bike officer for the first six years after its inception. He continued to work in the Patrol Division after being promoted to the rank of Sergeant in 1998, Lieutenant in 2003, Captain in 2008, and Assistant Chief in 2009.  Assistant Chief Jeseritz is a 2006 graduate of the 226th Session of the FBI National Academy in Quantico, Virginia.

Over the years, Assistant Chief Jeseritz has been involved in various aspects of the department such as the Selective Traffic Enforcement Program(STEP); Field Training Officer program; Grade Crossing Collision Investigation Instruction courses; OC-10 Instructor; co-commander of the Civil Disobedience Team; and commander of all three divisions within the department-Patrol, Criminal Investigations and Support Services/9-1-1. Assistant Chief Jeseritz has investigative training in areas such as shooting reconstruction, Explosives: Post-blast investigation, Crime Scene Processing, and Technical Accident Investigation. He has been a volunteer on a number of law enforcement related committees, including the Red Ribbon campaign, the annual Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics, L & C DUI Task Force, Youth Connections, Montana Operation Lifesaver, and Community Oriented Policing to name a few. Assistant Chief Jeseritz has served on the board of directors for the Montana Police Protective Association and Montana Operation Lifesaver and currently serves on the board for the Montana Association of Chief's of Police.

Captain Roger Johnson has been serving the City of Helena as a Police Officer since 1988.  He began his career obtaining an Associates of Arts Degree in Law Enforcement from the Alexandria Technical College in Alexandria, Minnesota.   Captain Johnson’s first police position was with the Mabel Police Department in Mabel Minnesota.

During his years of service Captain Johnson has held the promotional positions of Corporal, Sergeant, Lieutenant, and his current position as Captain.

Captain Johnson has served as commander within the Patrol Division, Criminal Investigations Division, Commander of the Missouri River Drug Task Force and Commander of the Support Services Division.

During his service he has been awarded Commendations, Achievement Awards, Fitness Awards, Education Recognition Awards and Certificates of Recognition. 

Captain Johnson serves as the Field Operations Commander for the Helena Police/Lewis and Clark County Sheriff’s Department SWAT unit and had previously served as an active member of the SWAT team participating in many high-risk incidents.  He takes great pride in representing the Helena Police Department as a member of the Police Honor Guard.  Captain Johnson serves as a firearms instructor and is a member of the City of Helena Wellness Committee. 

Captain Johnson is a graduate of the Montana Executive Leadership Institute, the FBI Command College and is a graduate of the 234^th session of the  FBI National Academy.

Captain Johnson is married and has two daughters. His interests include  kayaking, trail running, spending lunch hours in the gym, fly fishing, camping, hiking, upland game bird hunting, and watching any football game.

Corey has been with the Helena Police Department since 1996. He has experience as a Detention Officer, a 9-1-1 Communicator, and Reserve Deputy with the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office. Corey then became a 9-1-1 Communicator and later a Police Officer with the Helena Police Department.

Corey was born and raised in Clancy where he was involved in the outdoors and scouting. He enjoyed camping, backpacking, skiing, football, track, basketball, and attained the rank of Eagle Scout. He graduated from Jefferson High School in the top of his class. He attended  Carroll College on a scholarship and graduated with a BA in psychology. After being hired at the HPD, he attended the Montana Law Enforcement Academy and was voted class president. He also graduated the academy with the Mavity Award (#1 overall ranking).

Corey has worked patrol as a Bicycle Officer, Motorcycle Officer, Field Training Officer, Firearms Instructor, AR-15/Sub-Gun Instructor, Chemical Agents Instructor, TASER Instructor, Shift Supervisor, LCSO/HPD SWAT Team member, Downtown Patrol Officer, and recently completed Problem Based Learning/PTO Instructor training for Law Enforcement Officers.

Corey was promoted to the rank of Corporal in 2002 and then to the rank of Lieutenant in 2004. As Lieutenant, he has been the commander for the Support Services Division which includes a Records Division and the Lewis and Clark County 911 Center. He has also been commander for the Helena Police patrol division and is now the commander over the Helena Police Criminal Investigations Division.

In his off-time, Corey enjoys time with his wife and four daughters.

Steve has been with the Helena Police Department since October of 1991.   He was born and raised in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Steve joined the US Air Force where he served as a Law Enforcement Specialist and was stationed at Malmstrom Air Force Base from 1987 until 1991.  Once he arrived in Montana, Steve’s love for the outdoors kept him here. 

As a member of the Helena Police Department, Steve has served as a member of the SWAT team, an FTO, Corporal, and Sergeant.  He is currently holds the rank of Lieutenant and is in charge of the Patrol Division   He is a law enforcement instructor and has trained officers from agencies around the state in Taser, Active Shooter, Use of Force, Radar, and Domestic Violence Investigation.

In his off time, Steve enjoys the outdoors hiking with his wife and dog, hunting, fishing, and back packing.  

Curt joined the Helena Police Department in 1995.  He was born and raised in Havre, graduating from high school there in 1990 before attending college and graduating with Honors from Montana State University in the fall of 1994.

Curt spent six years in the Patrol Division as a patrol officer.  During his time in patrol, he worked as a Field Training Officer and became a Department Firearms Instructor. He was promoted to the rank of Corporal in 2001 and to Sergeant in December 2003.  Curt served as a Patrol Sergeant and supervisor for 2 years, before taking a position developing and writing department policy and procedure, where he has served the past 3 years.

Along with 3 others from the Department, Curt attended the inaugural course of the Montana Executive Leadership Institute at the Montana Law Enforcement Academy in 2007, helped organize and instruct the Department’s Active Shooter program, and also continues as a use of force, firearms, and baton instructor.  In 2006 he reorganized and chartered the Department’s Explorer Post with the Boy Scouts of America for high-school aged youth interested in careers in law enforcement or fire services.

Curt has been married for 12 years to his wife Christine, and has three children – Brandon, Danielle and Taylor.  In his (little) free time he is the Cubmaster for his son’s Cub Scout Pack, serves on his church council and enjoys camping and spending time with his family.
