HELENA POLICE DEPARTMENT CAPITOL OFFICER

Starting July 01, 2007 the Montana State Legislature approved funding for a full-time Helena Police Officer to be assigned to the State Capitol Complex. The main reasons for this action are to provide a visible deterrent through an uniformed/armed police presence and to protect employees, visitors and customers within the Capitol area. The officer also provides an efficient initial response to major threats and emergencies. Some of the other duties/responsibilities of the Capitol officer are developing pre-incident response plans and implementing training to State employees in regards to those plans and conducting criminal investigations.
