Q:  What is the difference between the Check Point Bus and the Curb to Curb Bus?

A:  The Check Point Bus is a set route bus.  It will only stop at the designated bus stops.  A scheduled Curb to Curb Bus will pick you up at your curb or if you are by a bus stop it will stop there.

Q:  How long will it take me to get to my destination on the Curb to Curb Bus?

A: The Curb to Curb buses run on the hour and the half hour so your ride should pick you and drop you off in approximately 30 minutes.

Q: I don’t understand the bus schedules.  How do I read them?

A:  The Check Point Bus starts at 7:00 AM and makes 19 stops within one hour.  The minutes shown next to the bus stop are when that bus is scheduled to be at that stop. The next starting Check Point Bus would be 8:00 AM then 9:00 AM and so on.  The last bus of the day is at 5:00 PM and the bus will be shut down at the bus office at 6:00 PM.

The East Valley has the same set up of hourly runs starting at 7:00 AM and ending at 4:00 PM and shut down at 5:00 PM.

Q: When should I call to make arrangements for a Curb to Curb bus?

A:  We request next day service, or your ride will be subject to availability.

Q:  I am confined to a wheel chair can I ride the bus?

A:  Yes - all buses are equipped with a wheel chair lift and meet all ADA requirements.

Q: Do you run on weekends and Holidays?

A: No -  there is no service on the weekends or Federal Holidays.

Q: Can the Check Point bus drop me off somewhere else other then a  bus stop?

A: No -  the Check Point can not deviate from its scheduled route.  You should make arrangements with the Curb to Curb Bus for special drops and pick ups.

Q: What are your business hours?

A:  The Curb to Curb bus starts are early as 6:30 AM.  The Check Point and East Valley Buses start at 7:00 AM.

The HATS dispatch/office is open at 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM.  Telephone calls are accepted from 8:00AM to 4:30PM.  If you need to cancel a ride after hours you can leave a message on the answering machine.  No bus reservations will be accepted by the answering machine due to bus scheduling.

Q: I have a bicycle. Can I put it on the bus?

A:  Bicycles are allowed only on the route buses.  The route buses are the Check Point bus, East Valley Bus.   It is the responsibility of the rider to load and unload their bicycle from the bike racks.

Q:  Can I bring my animal on the bus?

A:  All service animals are accepted on the buses.  The owner/handler needs to have the animal on a leash and in control while on the bus.  Other animals need to be in a carrier or a box.

Q:  I have a baby, are there car seats on the buses?

A:  The newer buses are equipped with car seats, the older buses are not.  At no time may a child ride in a stroller while on the bus.  The child must be held or placed in a car seat.   

Q:  Does the Bus Driver have change?

A: No – the drivers do not have any change.  Please the bring correct amount with you.

Q:  Where can I buy tokens or bus passes?

A:  Passes and tokens can be purchased from either the driver or the HATS office.  Please bring correct amount of change, or make checks payable to HATS.  No credit cards are accepted.

Q:  Can I eat and drink on the bus?

A: No -  food and drinks are prohibited from the bus.

Q:  Do I have to pay for my child to ride the bus?

A: If your child is 6 years old or older, - Yes.  Children 6 years old or younger ride free.
