New Transit Service for State Employees
The state has contracted with the City of Helena to provide expanded transit service for state employees including those who work for the State Fund and the University system. Employees identification cards now will serve as a bus pass on the Checkpoint route, East Valley route, the Downtown Trolley and the Capital Commuter route. HATS Curb-to-Curb service is not included.
New Commuter Route to the Capital
The Capital Commuter bus service is a joint effort between the Helena Area Transit Service and the State of Montana for the benefit of state employees and the general public to promote and expand public transit. The Capital Commuter route is funded by a $30,000 contribution by the State of Montana on a trial basis for fiscal year 2009.
The Capital Commuter is operational now. There are four runs for the day. The morning runs start at 6:30 AM, ending at 8:01 AM. The evening runs start at 4:05 PM, ending at 5:41 PM. Please refer to the Westside/Capital Bus Schedule and Map located further down this page.
